Essential Elements of Painting

MONDAYS 6pm – 9pm

Have you always wanted to paint but haven’t known where to start? Designed for complete beginners this course will give you a solid and practical foundation in painting using acrylics and oil paints. Learn simple processes for colour mixing, composition, and perspective, to produce a suite of finished paintings.

Cultivate your Painting Practice

Work on individual projects in a collegial studio environment, with a professional artist in a mentor capacity who can assist you in reaching the next stage in your development in both oil and acrylic mediums.

PLEIN AIR PAINTERS OF WAVERLEY

Plein-Air Painting

TUESDAYS 2:00 - 4:30pm

29 April - 24 June

This class continues the tradition of landscape painting in the environment at a range of harbour-side, parkland and urban locations.  A site is set for each week’s excursion in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs where Kevin demonstrates and assists students in developing their observational sketching and painting skills and provides tips for capturing the fleeting effects of light. These excursions will benefit the novice as well as those with previous painting experience. This class is subject to weather conditions and so classes are confirmed via email and payable on the day.

Painting Fundamentals - Intermediate

This course explores oil and acrylic painting with reference to master painters and traditional art practice. Tonal underpainting, colour theory and structuring paint layers will be explored along with the preparation of grounds and various approaches to composition. Designed for Intermediate students.

Work on individual projects with expert tuition from Kevin McKay within the creative hub of his studio.  He will instruct you on painting fundamentals and help develop your skills in the medium of your choice with reference to historical and contemporary masters. For students of all levels.
